Wedding Registry

Don’t let registering become a headache! Here are some great tips from the pros at Macy’s to help you register for those fabulous gifts!

-Choose a store with a rewards program and an online service: many retailers offer special discounts and gifts when you register with them so find out what benefits they offer before you start scanning away! Choose at least one store that allows gift givers to shop and ship from the comfort of their home.

-Register at two or three stores: more than three stores can make the process a bit overwhelming for both you and your guests.

-Register before your bridal shower and wedding: make sure to keep your registry up to date by visiting the stores ahead of time. Delete the items that are no longer available or you’ve changed your mind about. If you are not sure when your shower will be held, 12 to 14 weeks before your wedding date is a safe time to re-register.  Be sure to list registry information on your wedding website and bridal shower invitations (keep in mind that your actual wedding invitation should not include registry information).

-Register for enough gifts and at all price points: make sure you register for two gifts for each person on your guest list since he or she may be invited to a pre-wedding party, too. Having items in a range of prices ($25, $50, $100, $250+) ensures that everyone can find a gift they can afford.

-Get your groom involved: it is his home too so put him in charge of areas he’s interested in such as the bar or entertainment center!

-Think beyond today: you may not be entertaining the whole family for Thanksgiving this year but you probably will in the years to come. It’s important to register for both the basics (everyday dishes, bed linens) as well as items you may need in the future (formal china and crystal for 12, serving pieces). Get these items now so you won’t have to buy them later on. They can be pricey!

Happy registering!
